Activities are plentiful when visiting the Aulani Resort. Many are free and included in your stay. You can find them listed in your Daily or Weekly ‘IWA.
Aunty’s Beach House is available for children ages 3-12. There are also activities especially designed for teens ages 13-17.
Many ‘Ohana activities happen in the Pau Hana Community Room like Ukelele lessons, learning about the Hula, or Building a Canoe for Canoe Racing. The Pau Hana room is also the place where you can check out Disney DVD’s, games, and where you pick up your tablet for the Menehune trail.
Beach activities are also available – like various group exercise classes and ‘Ohana beach games.
Pool parties happen nearly every afternoon, with the characters getting in on the fun. My kids especially loved the Pool Parties. Dancing, Singing, and Games abound at these parties!
Other activities happen around the Resort as well. My kids attended Surf Lessons with Chip and Dale on the Halawai Lawn. They has a great time at this activity!
Be sure to attend on of the Mo’Olelo Fire Pit Storytelling. This was a highlight of many of our evenings. Uncle comes and “magically” lights the fire and tells tales from the Hawaiian Isles. One night, he told us the story of one of the scenes depicted on the Aulani towers. It was great. Bring a Dole Whip to enjoy while you listen! It seems to be available several times each evening.
The highlight of any stay at Aulani is the Starlit Hui. Get there early to enjoy the pre-show! It was offered on 2 nights during our week long stay. Each night, there was a line to get into the show. Cast Members will get mats for you and your family to sit on, find a place on the lawn, and enjoy the show. There was someone at the back of the lawn, with flowers, making lei’s with the kids before the show. We were lucky that our villa overlooked the Halawai Lawn, so the second night it was offered, we could watch the show from our balcony! The Show is AMAZING, and a MUST DO for your Aulani stay. It was offered on Monday and Thursday nights when we were there. Uncle narrates the show that features artisans, music, dancing, hula, and lots and lots of entertainment. There is even a Dance party with the Disney Characters at the end of the show.
There are so many free activities offered, that there will never be a dull moment in your Aulani stay!
While Aulani is not overly “Disney,” you can still find some of your favorite Characters at the Resort. The front of your Daily ‘IWA states where and when there will be Character Meet and Greets. You can also call the extension listed in the Daily ‘IWA to find out where specific characters will be throughout the day. We also would just run into Goofy playing in the pool area.
The Characters that can be seen at Aulani are Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Stitch, Chip, and Dale.
You can also attend the Character Breakfast “Aunty’s Breakfast Celebration” at the resort. I HIGHLY recommend this Character Breakfast. We have eaten at MANY, MANY Character Meals and this is one of my favorite because the food was AMAZING!
Now for Photopass. We went to Aulani planning to get the Photopass – we love it at Disneyworld! There are LOTS of photopass photographers around the resort. However, most of them just tell you to remember the time and place where they took your picture and go to the gift shop to look up your photos… Ummm yeah – there is no way I am going to remember that! They REALLY need to get the cards (like they have at Typhoon Lagoon/Blizzard beach… or even just the basic cards). They missed our sale because they did not have an easy way for us to collect our photos without remembering each and every place and time they took a picture. Oh well! Guess I saved a bit of money…. I loved the Magic bands at Disneyworld so much, guess we just got spoiled.
