It was officially announced this morning that a new Frozen ride will replace Malestrom in the Norway Pavilion in Epcot.
You can read the announcement on the Disney Parks Blog
I am not too surprised about this announcement. Frozen is HUGE right now. I mean, it had taken over Hollywood Studios while we were there and the line to see Anna and Elsa was BY FAR the longest line at Disneyworld, and longer than I had ever even seen for a ride.
I have mixed feelings about this. I believe in and love how Disney is always changing. It makes going back interesting and fun to see new attractions. On the other hand, Malestrom is one of our favorite rides at Epcot. It is a fun boat ride we can all go on as a family. When we rode it a few weeks ago, we teased the little boys, while we were travelling backwards, that we were going to go off the waterfall. Many giggles followed when it didn’t happen and we instead went down a drop forwards. We enjoy that ride and try to ride it often – with a snack of School Bread to follow 🙂
We like Frozen here, but will it still be so popular by the time the ride is finally ready to visitors?
We will miss Malestrom. Makes me happy we JUST rode it and that we were able to ride it several times during our visit, as I was expecting something like this may happen! That being said, I will be excited to ride the new ride, when we go back in a few years….
