I was going to post this yesterday, but I didn’t get a chance to sit down to write it!
During the Annual Shareholder Meeting, Bob Iger let it slip that Hollywood Studios would be getting a new name…. AGAIN!
Variety reported this news. Honestly, when my daughter told me of the story, I didn’t believe her. “Ummm. Sweetie. I think that is an old story. It is just changed its name.” The first time we took our older 2 kids to Disneyworld, they have JUST taken down the MGM sign. I still call the park MGM most of the time!
I guess it is not a big surprise. They are changing QUITE a bit in the park – all right after our visit in August. They closed down the backlot tour, said good-bye to the Giant Mickey Sorcerer’s Hat, Closed American Idol and the Jack Sparrow shows/attractions, changing/updating the Great Movie Ride, and they adding more to the Toy Story Mania.
Many changes are happening. I am excited to hear what the new name will be and all the changes that will have happened on our next trip to the World! My husband is hopeful for some new Star Wars attractions 😉
Any guesses about the new name? Hollywood Studios never really worked for me (I mean, they are nowhere near Hollywood). I think simply “Disney Studios” sounds better to me (like when it was Disney-MGM studios, simply drop the MGM)
