My Husband and kids have wanted to stay at the Legoland hotel for years now. Well, on our last trip to Disneyland, we finally were able to make time for a trip to Legoland to stay at the hotel (we have been to Legoland MANY times, just not the hotel). It was for my son’s birthday, so it was a fun birthday treat for him.
To rate the hotel, I have to not think about Disney, because it simply can’t compare to the Deluxe Disney hotels. So I will try my best not to compare the two.
You pull up to the hotel and Legos decorate the entire place. We checked-in early, and they surprisingly had a room ready – score! We were on the first floor, in one of the castle rooms. The rooms were larger than an average hotel room, but I think they could have been a bit bigger. Many “suite” hotels are bigger (rooms at the Great Wolf Lodge are bigger). You enter the room and there is the kid’s area – bunk beds, a trundle bed, and tv. Then there is the bathroom, which had a fun shower curtain and lots of fun lego touches. The bathroom was small though. However, we LOVED that there was a build in child potty seat!! Having a 3-year-old that often uses a potty seat, this was soooo nice! It is something we’d never seen in a hotel! The “Parents” area had a king size bed and not a lot of other room in there. There was a tv and dresser of course. The “closet” area was open, across from the bathroom. There was a refrigerator as well. There was also a “safe” by the door. You’ll also find buckets of legos in the room to play with.
The first thing we did was travel around the hotel to find the combination for the safe. That was a fun scavenger hunt. There were some Mixel sets in the safe for the kids to take home.
We then had to ride the elevator. It is probably the most fun you’ll ever have in an elevator.
We then spent some time in the pool. I was VERY underwhelmed with the pool. Yeah, they have some employees playing music and games for the kids, but other than that, it was a lame pool. You had to check out towels. I had to put a lifevest on my 5-month-old baby to take him in. That annoyed me. HELLO?!?! He wasn’t leaving my arms. They wouldn’t let him get in the pool without it. Lame. I am all for life jackets, but when you are HOLDING a SMALL baby, that they don’t even have the right size life jacket for – yeah, that’s annoying. They didn’t have small lifevests, so he was uncomfortable and miserable. No fun. I didn’t end up staying with him for long and went back to the room while my husband played with the older kids in the pool. We’ve had so many better hotel pools, that this one was a terrible letdown.
The kids enjoyed the lobby and play areas. They have shows there too, that my kids took part in and enjoyed. They were cheesy, but they had fun. They enjoyed getting in the big piles of legos and building. They had a dance party in the evening, which was fun as well. They’ll have random characters roaming around through the day as well. They also had a movie at the pool, which my husband and 3 older kids went two after the 2 small ones went to bed.
The breakfast that is included with your stay was delicious. Lots of choices and options. It is nice that they have a full buffet with tons of choices included with your stay. That is a nice perk. I liked the yummy breakfast.
You also get into the park early! YAY! My son was picked to open the park!! This was definitely a highlight of the trip! Something you’d only get if you stayed at the hotel, since only hotel guests can get early entry to the park.
Would I stay here again? Maybe. If I got a good deal and my kids REALLY wanted to. The breakfast was good and the decor was fun, but the rooms could have been bigger and the pool really was lame. You could simply go into the hotel, see all the sights/shows and ride the elevator for free and get most of the effect of the hotel. If you are a big lego fan (like my family is) and you get a good deal, It is fun to do at least once.
