The Disney Parks Blog announced today that the closure of Peter Pan and the Matterhorn, will bring new, enhanced features when the rides re-open for the 60th Anniversary Celebration!
The Matterhorn will have “new effects” and the Abominable Snowman is getting a makeover. I hope he is animatronic and adds a new thrill to the ride. The Matterhorn is not my favorite roller coaster – too bumpy and not meant for tall people! But it is a classic, and we always ride it a few times when at Disneyland. I was bummed when it re-opened and the height restrictions were higher. Before the last refurb, this was always my kids first roller coaster (it used to only have a 35″ height requirement).
Peter Pan will feature “re-imagined nursery scene and a variety of special effects” which I am excited about. Peter Pan is one of my favorite Disney rides, as it is for most people (as you can tell from the lines…), so I am anxious to see the changes they have made. Many people get uptight with changes, but I think it is a way to keep things fresh, but still enjoy that nostalgic ride we all know and love!
